Eventhough, Maloo climber is considered as a problematic species with respect to the overall well-being of trees, this plant has multiple uses. The seeds, leaves, pod and flowers are the edible. The seeds of the plant are aphrodisiac can be eaten raw or fried and cooked as a pulse. The leaves are mucilaginous and have antiinflammatory properties. Although this taxon has not yet been assessed by IUCN Red List of Threatened Plants, efforts must be made towards the same so that actual status of the plant in its natural habitat can be determined. Moreover, sincere efforts should be take by forest department, local NGOs, rural livelihood development agencies and cottage industries to incorporate leaves of Bauhinia vahlii species to manufacture eco-friendly serving plates, cups etc and explore new avenues. The fibre of the plant can be technologically upgraded to create various items of daily use. These climbers can also help combat deforestation and high rate of soil erosion and carbon sequestration ofcourse with proper forest management practices.

Turbulence!!!

When river meets ocean it results in turbulence,
Where ideas and thoughts meets it creates waves and waves create turbulence.

Turbulence can generate turbulence can destroy, beginning of life,
Or the destruction when tectonic plates meet!!

Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, it can only transform,
But it depends on the factors whether the transformed energy is beneficial for mankind or results in fragmentation and chaos.

Clouds, after rainshowers!

The skies over Mussoorie – Landour, always astound one with the clouds changing forms and shapes with different seasons, as if almighty has set spectacular screensaver in the high skies. These mystic clouds can tingle creative corners of mind. These clouds sometimes play hide and seek between manifold layers of mountains, they rise up go down swirling along the curves, edges in the valley as if they are dancing alongwith the  wind. These clouds often march into the valley like a troop and suddenly recede away, slowly fading into the clear evening breeze.  Be it dawn or the dusk, these clouds create picturesque panorama in the canvas of sky.

Mussoorie Skies 1!!!

Sunset in and around Mussorie is a breathtaking experience. The silhouettes of clouds lifting over valleys and mountain embed an everlasting tranquility in the mind and soul. I tried to capture the moment through my mobile lens.

In conformity with nature!!

With the pandemic, lockdowns and curfews life is struck somewhere within concrete walls. One has to think many times, before taking one step out of house, ofcourse with many precautions.

©A mountain road

Eventhough we are slowly adjusting our lifestyles but still there is a longingness to reach out to the nature and outdoors.

©Clouds and the sky

Many of us must have planned holidays after the lockdown is over and counting days to escape in the serenity of nature. But, before unleashing out, we must be careful not to disturb the restored ecology and act responsibly adopting responsible tourism.

©A wild flower

It’s a blessing to live in a place which is surrounded with ecologically healthy environment. We must act responsibly while travelling to the remote destinations so as not to disturb the environment and ecological of the area. Interestingly nature revived itself while we were locked indoors.

©Mussoorie, Uttarakhand

In the rat race somewhere, we were undermining the basic essence of life.
But, I feel, this pandemic has reintroduced humanity to human beings. This corona pandemic has taught many lessons to the humanity and above all to live in conformity with nature.

A lamented realm!!

As we celebrate World Environment Day,
Ecological Restoration they say;
Busy in conferences and meetings today,
Making this day nice and gay!!

© Dandelion

Busy making policies, since 1972,
Year passing by, it’s 2022;
How many more occassions do you need,
To understand, enact and rebuild.

© Rainfall in distant hills

And temperature soars high
Air conditioners sway,
Purchasing drinking water;
Oh!! loadshedding again today.

© Clouds over a city

While we are discussing
Another wilderness is lost,
Cities expanding at the nature’s cost;
Who is parasite and who is host?

Lost in these thoughts,
Meetings got over and conferences too,
Acquired much knowledge and enlightenment too!!
Will have to take rest and other commitments too;
But will environment and nature will heal itself through!!

A mystic mountain road!!

A distant mountain road,
On other side of the valley;
Covered in mystic clouds,
Surrounded with forested alley.

It called me from afar,
To explore the unexplored;
I believed and stepped forward,
And my aspirations soared!!

Followed the trails on the hills,
Rocks and boulders, so bold;
Thickets and bushes and thrills,
Until I reached the road.

And I went along the mountain road,
Didn’t know where it lead;
But every bend and every turn,
Surprised me and my thoughts freed!!!

Clouds in the sky!!!

It was an usual day during lockdown and I was gazing at the sky saddened by the agony of lost lives and pain due to pandemic. Suddenly, these clouds appeared and instilled new hope and faith in me. Thought of painting on canvas but few words slipped through my pen…

Clouds in the sky, lifted spirits

When I was weighing down,

Under heavy cloud of thoughts;

Come lift me again,

And take me abode

To some place;

Which my soul,

Always sought.

Again, they remind of few lines of a poem by Rabindranath Tagore

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.”

~ Rabindranath Tagore,

(Stray Birds)

The northern breeze sometimes carries these clouds through the conifers creating a mystic bluish haze which can sweep someone away off their feet. Sunlight entering through the mist in the forest can make one spellbound as if almighty is pouring in rays of hope from the heavens. May these winds take away the agony and bereavement from million suffering lives.
